Mike Lyden - A coach to many, and a friend to all; a loving husband and proud father of three. After a courageous battle against lung cancer, Mike died on April 11, 2008.
Mike was one of the country's most accomplished coaches and recently received the Whosam Award in recognition of his accomplishments. As the University of Kentucky diving coach, Mike has coached 49 All-America selections; 13 SEC Championships; 1 NCAA Champion; and 2 NCAA Runners-Up. He was a nine-time SEC Diving Coach of the Year and the 1996 NCAA Women’s Diving Coach of the Year
The following are details for the viewing and funeral service for Kentucky's diving coach, Mike Lyden:
* Viewing, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, April 14, Kerr Brothers' Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road. Those wishing to attend a viewing are welcome during these hours.
* Funeral mass, 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary, Clays' Mill Road. A funeral at Lexington Cementary will follow.
* A luncheon will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, at the Joe Craft Center on the women's basektball practice courts.
